Dead Pixel Test
A proper dead pixel tester cycles through five solid colours. Any pixel that doesn't match the background colour is dead or stuck. This is the only reliable method.
Look for any pixel that is NOT black — those are stuck pixels.
Tip: Hover over the screen to reveal controls. Use arrow keys to navigate phases.
Dead pixel vs stuck pixel — what's the difference?
Dead Pixel
A permanently dark pixel. The transistor has failed and the pixel no longer receives power. Appears black on all colour screens. Generally not repairable.
Stuck Pixel
A pixel stuck displaying a constant colour (red, green, blue, or white). The transistor is functional but the pixel is not responding to colour changes. Often fixable.
Can stuck pixels be fixed?
Yes — stuck pixels can sometimes be fixed by rapidly cycling them through colours (which this tool does) or by gently applying pressure with a soft cloth. See our stuck pixel repair guide for detailed instructions.
